Just Another Pinterest Find

I have always been the one guilty of seeing projects on Pinterest and immediately feeling the need to go out and buy the supplies. I have a whole corner in my room dedicated to future DIY projects. My boards are full of craft ideas, inspirational quotes, fitness plans, and techniques that will assist me on my walk with God. This was just another Pinterest find. Stay tuned to see how it works out! If you are interested in joining this journey with me, I put together this Bible Caddy for just under 15 dollars (with the exception of my Bible of course).

I found all my supplies, right down to the caddy, at the local Dollar Store:

The Caddy itself only costs $3

            1 subject-college ruled notebook $1
(I plan to use this to take notes during life group meetings)

            10 pack Crayola markers $2

4 pack of colored pens $1

2 pack of black gel pens $1

            Hole punch $1

            Mini-stapler $1

            4 pack of Post-it notes $1

            1 Pack of 100 Index Cards $1

I also bought a pack of Pencils that are not pictured $1

The blue Hallmark journal that is included was a graduation gift from fellow church members.
(I plan to use this as a prayer journal)

                                         Total Cost: $13.53

     UPDATE ON BIBLE ART JOURNALING:

The life group that I am currently attending is studying the story of David. In 1st Samuel                        chapter 16, Samuel anoints David to be King. Before our meeting on Tuesday I had never read out of the book of Samuel. So in preparation for our next life group meeting I am reading the first 15 chapters of the 1st book of Samuel. After studying, and meditating on scripture I have yet to muster up the courage to actually create art in my Bible. Although I am not searching for perfection, I am afraid of committing to a specific layout then later having a better idea later. Hopefully soon I can commit to a book, chapter, or verse. If any of you are new to Journaling as well, I would love to see your creations!

Approaching Our Relationship a Different Way - Bible Journaling

I have always been cautious to not make promises that I could not keep. I have fallen short from time to time, as most have. So I am here today to publicly announce my commitment to devote time daily to my bible, and create visually appealing content in the margins on a weekly basis. I hope you join me on this journey. Feel free to take inspiration from my work and immerse yourself in the word. Even if you are someone who finds yourself less craftier than others I encourage you to join us anyways on a weekly basis, whether it be to admire my work or develop skill.

ESV Journaling Bible-recieved on September 1st 2015
The objective of this experience is not to create perfection, but to draw near to God and improve ourselves in aspects that we fall short; whether it be patients, tranquility, or relying on God. Another thing I would like to add is, it is not necessary to go out and buy a journaling Bible. Bibles can get expensive-the method that you use is completely up to you to decide, but putting thin paint over the text in your Bible will not make it illegible.

Bible journaling is similar to our walk with God; everyone's is different, and no one's is wrong. I want this to be a place that we can come and glorify God together, a place were we lift each other up and encourage one another. Bible journaling is becoming a popular artistic outlet on the internet. Everywhere we look people are putting their own spin on it. One thing to keep in mind is not to compare our work to the work of others. God delights himself in the things we do for Him, He loves us and longs for intimacy with us. We might not be the best when we compare ourselves with others, but God sees us perfect and does not compare our gifts to him with the gifts that others bring forth. Glorify God in all you do and He will be pleased.

Getting To Know The Girl

Hey y'all!  I have come to the conclusion that blogging is some what of an interesting experience, which is what has provoked me to embark on this adventure.  Here is a little more about me:  my name is Shelby, and I live a pretty average life.  I start my first college semester in just over 2 weeks,  and I work most days;  the days that I don't work I participate in some form of ministry.

18 months ago I committed my life to introducing middle school girls to the people God made them to be.  I spend every available moment making sure they understand that they are beautiful and valuable.  My girls are my world!  I find it crucial to instill these values now, so that when they are introduced to the world of high school they do not place their value on the opinions of others.

In two weeks when I begin enhancing my knowledge through a college education I will not be attending a 4-year University.  I felt God was leading me to stay home and attend the local community college,  for many different reasons.  After two years of a attending the local community college I plan to transfer to a University to continue my study of Sociology.

I am a strong advocate for determining your own future;  meaning I don't believe anyone in your life,  past or present,  should have control over it.  You have the choice of fallowing the path that others lay out for you or making a path of your own.  From personal experience I can tell you making your own path isn't easy, but well worth it.  My parents are divorced,  and both remarried.  Growing up a lot of things didn't make since,  but I have learned from my parents mistakes and refuse to fall into the path that my mother did.

Those are the basics! Thanks for joining me on this journey,  and I hope that as time goes on you guys continuously learn more about me!

Love Always,
           Shelby Anne
